Central States Philosophical Association 2019 Meeting

The Central States Philosophical Association Meeting will be held on Friday, October 18th, and Saturday, October 19th, at Washington University in St. Louis, starting at 9am and ending at 6:30pm on both days.  The keynote speaker will be Ishani Maitra (University of Michigan).  The keynote address, on Friday afternoon, will be followed by a reception at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company.

The conference hotel is the Clayton Plaza Hotel.  A block of rooms is available at the conference rate of $124/night (plus taxes).  Rooms can be booked, using at the conference code HAZ, at www.cpclayton.com or by calling 1-407-992-795, or by following this link.

The conference rate is available until September 17th.


The hotel and conference venue are accessible by MetroLink light rail, which also serves the St. Louis airport (STL) and the central bus and train station.  For the Clayton Plaza Hotel, use the Clayton station; for the Washington University campus; use the University City-Big Bend station.

An Uber or Lyft from the airport to the hotel or campus is around $25.

Shuttles will be arranged to facilitate transportation between the Clayton Plaza Hotel, the Washington University campus, and the reception venue.


The most convenient parking is in the garage beneath the Danforth University Center (DUC), accessible from Forsyth Blvd. Other good options include the Millbrook Garage, accessible from Forest Park Parkway, and the East End Garage, accessible from both Forsyth Blvd. and Forest Park Parkway.

Visitor parking is $2 per 2 hours on weekdays, using designated “visitor” spaces, and free on weekends, using either “visitor” spaces or “yellow” spaces in any “zone” – just avoid the “red” spaces. There are convenient “yellow” spaces in the surface lot just west of the DUC.


Early registration, which will be available until October 1st, is $70 for students and $80 for all others.  After October 1st, registration is $80 for students and $90 for all others. All authors of submitted papers and commentators are expected to register.
